Mission Statement

The mission of the South Carolina Association of School Social Workers is to assist its membership and clients. We are tasked to ensure the full education and human potential for every student and family with whom we work. It is our responsibility to maintain and enhance our skills and improve professional standards in the field.

Social Workers link the home, school, and community through interagency collaboration, coordination of services and advocacy. Sound policies and programs are implemented to meet the needs of diverse populations throughout the state. Globally, it is our mission to promote activities that strengthen and unify school social work, to expand the delivery of services and enhance public recognition of the association.

Purpose

The purpose of the South Carolina Association of School Social Workers is:

  • To unite persons engaged in any phase of school social work;
  • To maintain and improve professional standards in the field of school social work;
  • To review procedures and policies related to school social work and recommend new procedures and policies;
  • To provide opportunities for development of skills in the area of school social work;
  • To act as a clearinghouse for the exchange and dissemination of all materials and information relating to the field of school social work;
  • And to serve as an advocate for members of the association.
